Psychedelics
There is a great deal of excitement and energy around psychedelics these days. As with everything, what it all means depends on what you are reading and to whom you are talking. Some people are almost evangelical in proclaiming that these “mind expanding” experiences will hold vast potential for powerful transformation, at both the personal and social level. Others are adamantly opposed to what they view as just another unfortunate addition to the already existing problematic landscape posed by “drug use”. From this perspective, psychedelic experiences are simply one more way for users to escape their reality, the outcome of which will ultimately be self harm ultimately leading to negative social consequences.
I think the truth lies somewhere in between. As far as I can see, there are many sources of confusion as to what psychedelics are and what they are not, what they can and cannot do, and who it might help, and who it might harm. This is a very complex topic. Some of the information I see appears to be intentionally misleading, overhyped, and increasingly driven by questionable motivations and often corporate interests. Some of it is just honest misunderstandings. But there is also a great deal of very insightful, deeply considered and well researched information that shows us how profoundly remarkable psychedelics experience are, and which, under the right conditions can truly offer powerful and transformative change in ways that are simply not possible through any other means.
How to separate what is true and real from what is not. There is much to be excited and hopeful about, and there are also many serious issues and concerns not widely known or generally discussed. If you wish to know more about these matters then come take a look. I hope to provide the best information I can, to offer a more balanced and nuanced perspective on all of this. This section is just beginning so please be patient as I begin to post here. Hopefully you will find it helpful.
